Intelligence and PSD (Protective Security Detail) Training
Intelligence and Protective Security Detail training at GTR is a 4-week course. This is
an intensive course taught by Military Special Forces Instructors from the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps. Basic
Protective Security Detail Course is a 160-hour program composed of Lecture, demonstration and practical application.
Although we teach many of the same classes during our 4-week course as our 6-week course, it does not have the same
intensity or time for PSD planning and advance team operations. The program teaches problem solving, strategies, tactics,
and skills to use as a Dynamic and Anticipatory Protection Detail. The course teaches the protection detail personnel the
importance of maintaining a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and honesty during working and non-working hours.
The course develops a solid understanding about why people carry out an attempted assassination and kidnapping, and what
general methods they used in the past. Protection of a designated individual involves more than assigning the biggest men
to form a circle around the principal and intimidate the public. Protection operations are sensitive, critical, and complicated.
To accomplish the mission, you must prepare for all eventualities. Never assume anything. We teach our students that the
first and foremost protection principal is to reduce the risk and lower the possibility of an attack on the protected
individual. In all protection operations, the objective is to avoid a confrontation, because prevention is always the
best policy. All pricing for this course is done through the GSA pricing schedule. Please call or email for the current
price for this course. This course will not run unless a minimum of 20 are in the group for training. The class is provided by JT Quest.
Marksmanship
Scope: The first phase consists of marksmanship. The Training concentrates on engaging single, and
multiple threat targets quickly, accurately, and without hesitation by applying the fundamentals of marksmanship and
Dynamic Target Acquisition Drills. In addition, during this phase we work on motorcade operations. We conduct flow drills
before and after training and we convoy to the range in a motorcade. This method helps the detail understand, early on,
what they will have to do to be successful as a protective security detail.
